Emma provides a flexible treatment approach that is tailored to individual client needs, goals and strengths. Emma works primarily with a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach, while including elements of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and compassion focused skills. Emma is trauma informed and can provide Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, and trauma related diagnoses and symptoms. Emma is passionate about improving individual’s relationship with body image and food and is further trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – Enhanced (CBT-E), the Evidence Based treatment for disordered eating. Emma encourages client’s to build self-confidence and compassion while increasing self-awareness, cognitive disputation, distress tolerance and emotional flexibility using a range of skills and strategies.
Throughout her training and practice, Emma has worked across a number of different settings including; schools, private practice, hospitals and assessment clinics. This is further reflected by her work supporting individuals with disabilities, mentoring children, youth and adolescents in her role as camp counsellor and program leader across Australian and American exchange programs. Emma has gained experience within cultural diversity from her mental health placement in Sri Lanka. Emma’s experience further extends to psychological research and assessment specifically in prospective memory in older adults, from her role as a research assistant at Australian Catholic University.
